Philadelphia Eagles vs San Francisco 49ers
Out of the NFC, I’m taking the Eagles and 49ers to play each other. Unless they lineup against each other prior to the NFC Championship game, I see these two teams as the teams to beat.
Both teams are lead by stellar defenses, and the 49ers just made theirs better by trading for Chase Young. So now the 49ers have Nick Bosa and Chase Young lining up against opponents offensive lines, that’s freakin’ scary. The Eagles are loaded with Georgia defensive players and they use a platoon like system similar to Georgia’s, keeping their defensive line fresh. I still don’t understand why the rest of the NFL keeps letting the Eagles draft as many Georgia players as they want.
Brock Purdy vs Jalen Hurts. It’s kind of crazy that both guys are playing way better than they did in college. I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t like either QB coming out of college, but I’ll admit how wrong I was. I never thought Hurts was accurate enough to be an NFL QB, but he has proven me wrong time and time again, and I now give him the respect he deserves. Then you have Brock Purdy. Mr. Irrelevant, Mr. Put him up against number 14 ranked Notre Dame, while at Iowa State in the Camping World Bowl, to get smacked in the mouth, 33-9, yeah that Brock Purdy, but also, Mr. Perfect QB to run the 49ers offense.
Then you gotta look at the running backs. You’ve got the best RB in football, Christian McCaffrey, vs D’Andre Swift/Kenneth Gainwell/Boston Scott/yet to be used much Rashaad Penny and you’ve got a nice matchup there as well. It looks like the Eagles can play anyone at RB behind that stellar Oline and the 49ers find a million different ways to get McCaffrey the ball.
Receiving Weapons? Eagles have AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, and recently signed Julio Jones. 49ers have Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, and Brandon Aiyuk. Jerry Rice said Aiyuk was legit and he’s no liar. Then you have do it all Deebo Samuel. If Kettle could stay healthy, we’d all be saying he’s the better TE over Kelce, bold statement there Nate, but it’s true. AJ Brown is on pace for a record setting season and string bean DeVonta Smith is the perfect complement. (FYI, Smith was my favorite WR in his draft class). Loaded, just freaking loaded, both teams are loaded. We don’t want this matchup, we need this matchup.
